Vonage is going downhill

For over a year, I’ve been missing text messages and unable to text and it’s been nothing but excuse after excuse when I first started with Vonage years ago everything was fine. I think I’m gonna have to pour my numbers over to another provider.

Dropped calls

I used to not have any issues but in the last few months this app has gone downhill. I’m constantly dropping calls (not due to service), any time I get a call while I’m on a call it disconnects the current call whether I hit any options or not on the new call, constantly disconnects from Bluetooth devices, and cannot send any text messages. Absolutely and utterly horrible for a business phone line.

3rd World Tech Support

I have yet in over 14 years with this company had a positive experience using the tech support. If I felt confident we could port or 16 business number on ver seamlessly to another company we would have years ago. Your company is simply horrible.

Worst phone app ever.

Me again. Still terrible. Every other call at least, while using click to call fails… How hard is it to just fix this?!!

Terrible interface

This is an impossibly difficult service to use. I am disappointed and am willing to pay the penalty to get out of the service. It should be easy but doesn’t do what it should and you get blank screens.

DON’T

I have had 4 dropped calls and I’m only 3 hours into my work day. The texting feature is constantly buggy and I can only send or receive from whoever gets lucky that day, the calls drop, Vonage has re-named our line and it doesn’t ring with our business name anymore, so clients are confused when I call.

Beware of transitioning an active number

We have a small business call/text line that we moved from another carrier. We were told that if we went through the sms registration pre approval we would have a seamless transition of our call and text function. So we did all the pre approval to make sure we didn’t have a service interruption for our customers. We ported number Friday am. SMS function did not work. We’ve called customer service no less than a dozen times. We’ve been told that it should be working in 3-4 hrs, 2-3 days, engineers are working on it, it’s been ‘escalated’, oops hasn’t been escalated but is now, it’s a carrier problem, the number just isn’t synced in their system etc etc. Today is 4 days in, still not resolved, and Charles at customer service informed me that it has not yet even been assigned to a tech specialist - hopefully that will happen tomorrow. We asked for a supervisor to call, update and expedite. You can’t hold for them and I’ll just let you guess if they call ya back🤣. With their lack of customer service and inability to promptly fix a glitch on their end, I certainly would not recommend for anyone planning important business communications.

Worst customer service

Not only does Vonage have mediocre service but they have virtually no customer service. Unless spending hours of your day chatting to someone who doesn’t understand what you’re trying to accomplish and still not getting any resolution is your idea of a fun day I would not recommend this company. Calls are being dropped. Calls are being forwarded to voicemail instead of to phones . You spend hours in a chat because its not even an option to talk to a rep. They will just open a case and no one will ever contact you about that case. So not only do you waste hours of your day, but you will never get a resolution for the issue. Run the other way from this company!

Awful!

Misses calls and has to many solicitors

Calls get dropped, no audio, sometimes it does not ring, I notice because i have the app on my laptop, and then with the virtual assistant it is set up own way and I have to keep going back to re do it so it saves the changes. Not recommended :/

Truly an awful app and company. I can’t wait until we finally switch.

Not efficient

This service totally depends on wifi so not useful when traveling or offsite. NO OUT GOING TEXTING!

Terrible to say the least

I can’t sign in and to make it even worse PHONE SUPPORT IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOMERS!!! It is infuriating and totally unacceptable that a VOiP phone provider doesn’t want to provide phone support

Not the best option

Vonage is like ordering a burger and they are asking you do you want the buns? Well I thought the buns come with it. But no that’s extra just like the cheese, the tomatoes, and so on.

Bad update

Please remove the alphabet division in favorite contacts. It spreads turn out too much and it is unnecessary. Other than that the app is fine.

Too expensive, no support

I haven’t been receiving my business calls for 2 and a half days now. Call quality was going downhill for a while, but this is ridiculous. There is no way to reach anyone by phone for support. Very disappointed in their service.

Can’t text

I used to love this app and would give it five out of five but we can’t text anymore. Been this way for many months complete pain in the butt

Customer support is non existent in this company it's impossible to get in contact with them

DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANY BUSINESS.

They advertise to you as a month to month payment and they will lock you into a contract and will refuse to close your account with paying them first which is wild for a company to refuse you to not close your account when asked weather you owe them money or not. I have never in my life experienced this with any company I used even if I had pay any fees. To me it’s not about paying it’s about them refusing to close my account regardless of payments due. You’re better off paying for extra line on your phone bill to get a buisness line. Also you will receive tons of spam calls literally all my calls were spam. Also just to do certain things like to message clients and other features it’s extra fee. Like I can a get phone line and get the same features and cancel my line without all the extra fees. So I do not recommend this company at all. It’s not worth it and they prices may sound reasonable but it’s not worth the hassle.

Remove the call Park button asap

This app works just fine but I constantly hit the Park button. It's annoying and then I have to wait for the call to come back listen to the operator give options then select the number one to pick up the call that I parked. It's time-consuming and beyond annoying. If it was up to me - I would not use this app for my company. You guys really need to make an option to remove that from the dashboard asap

Constant issues

My company uses vonage and lately it’s been one issue after another. Calls aren’t forwarding properly, call quality is terrible. The newest issue is that when a call comes in my phone is not ringing or vibrating to alert me to a call coming in. I’ve checked notifications to make sure this is turned on, I’ve made sure my phone volume is turned all the way up, but still nothing.

Connectivity

Vonage app allows me to answer inbound calls from my cell phone. Works great while connected to WiFi. I frequently miss calls if I’m outside of our WiFi coverage. It does work occasionally but, it’s not dependable.

YEARS later and problem persists

*** UPDATE 01/09/2025: In iOS settings, when you toggle notifications to “off” position for the Vonage Business app, the notifications still come. I’ve been trying for years to get this simple feature to function properly. Also, Vonage does not allow you to block or silence numbers that send spam texts. Calling support hasn’t resolved either issue*** | *** Last year’s review about this matter: Toggling to off does not work. Several years after notifying Vonage, leaving a favorable review with a criticism and calling support for help, you still cannot stop your business line from ringing your phone. There should be a simple toggle setting. Turning notifications off for this app does not stop it from ringing. You have to log out Vonage or create an iOS “do not disturb” setting that blocks notifications from the app. I’d love for this to be resolved. I’ve adjusted my 4 star rating down and will up it to 5 when a version is released to fix this issue. For now, toggling notifications to the “off” position simply doesn’t stop this from ringing

They Know we Depend on Them

I wish my employer wasn’t reliant on Vonage. What’s worse, I wish that Vonage customer service didn’t act like they know that we are dependent on them. Whenever I get in touch with customer service, they only seem to have half answers that never solves the issue.

New update - horrible

Just did the newest update and now there is no volume to the calls! With my profession our phones are a huge part of our success, and the fact that all of us now have to keep our phones in our hands to feel them vibrate for a call is not ideal. All of our settings are correct, just no volume with the ringer to go off!

Used for years, went downhill almost a year ago

We’ve used Vonage at work for as long as I’ve worked there (5+ years). It used to be such a great app. Since May of 2024 we haven’t been able to send texts, but we do receive them. It is now January 2025. Vonage kept telling us that they were going to get it fixed as soon as possible and that we were a priority due to being a long time customer. Today, I noticed that sometimes missed calls don’t appear on the call log which is odd because the phone still rings. Their only suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall the app. When that didn’t work, they said they’d escalate the issue. They might as well have told me to put it in rice probably would have been more helpful too.

Really bad calling service

We’ve had really bad calling service I have to make over 10 calls to make the calls to go thru and when someone calls I can’t hear anything. I’ve spoke to their customer service many times about it and they are so dumb they say it’s my phone but it’s my phone why does it do it on all of our company phones I would never recommend there services

Inconsistent

This is the most inconsistent app I’ve ever used. The desktop program is almost as bad. Every day I experience dead air in calls, get random notification that I have a ‘New Voicemail’ when I don’t and will not work with my 5G network. I bring this to the attention of my business admin and the response she receives when she notifies Vonage of an issue is always the same generic verbiage that is not helpful at all. They advise uninstalling and reinstalling the app or opening and closing the app. How does a company think that is acceptable? I shouldn’t have to uninstall and reinstall something daily for it to work properly. Praying my admin ends service with Vonage and switches us back to Ring Central. Aside from being more reliable, Ring Central has better features as well like customized away messages. Giving two stars because the audio quality when successfully on a call is good.

I’ve been in Customer for 30 minutes, I’ve been on the phone with him 25 of those minutes. First, I cannot get into my account for the first time because their systems are weird and they had to send a temporary password instead of letting me create my own password like it says I do. I was on the phone with the representative who set up my account and walk me through stuff as soon as we hung up it got flagged by the fraud department and when I called back to ask them questions, nobody will help me and they said their fraud department is open 24 seven as well as all of their services which is a lie. I’m already canceling my services and requesting my money back in less than one hour.🤣

Terrible connection.

I was never able to have a good connection with their calls. The app are not easy to navigate. No good customer service available. And found other similar services for less.

Good calls/bad texts

Still unhappy with lack of resolution to the texting problems. Would love to be able to use that option fully for our business and clients

Just Blank

I have to dial and hang up multiple times before my calls will connect. There are often times no sound on the other end. This is incredibly frustrating because our clients think that someone is prank calling them. Please correct this. We pay too much to have faulty phone service.

Used To Be Good….

This app used to work great for our business with very few issues. However within the past several months we have been having non-stop issues with simply receiving and making calls via the mobile app. There is no audio at all on either end of the conversation, even with full cell signal, WiFi, 5G, it does not matter. Also SMS messaging just doesn’t work at all within the app now. Right now I would not recommend this app.

Can’t get ahold of customer service

I been using it for my boutique for more than a year. It was great till they updated recently and I can’t send or receive messages. It keeps saying I need to register my business again and every time I try it fails with a “ we can’t verify your business “ I even checked my paperwork to make sure everything was correct, EIN and everything. It also charges you every time you try which I tried like 5 times $12+$4 each time. I was verified at the beginning so idk why I’m being denied now.

Horrible

The voicemail’s disappear suddenly and the green light is on for connectivity but yet it constantly has a red banner stating there is no internet even if your phone is on a stable wifi and 5G service

No texting still

Texting has been down for weeks on Vonage. I need to be able to send and receive work text messages. Please fix this.

Can’t Allow Microphone Access

Tried allowing microphone access and it didn’t work. Talked to an agent and there isn’t an option to enable it. Don’t know why you would have an app that takes calls but you are not able to answer those calls because you can’t enable the microphone.

Very frustrating that I cannot make calls via the app. The called on the other line cannot hear me and neither can I. Messaging has also been disabled for months.

Poor service

Not extremely hard to contact customer service support. When they call , its harder to communicate with them due to heavy accent and preset answers.

Stay away

Worst company I have ever dealt with No communication with this company They do not resolve any issues, their chat is with unqualified representatives, they double bill you You want to speak on the phone with them will cost you a fee, my account went live 10/31 my phones do not ring which cost me revenue…

Slow garbage

This is one of the most unreliable communications programs I use at work. I clearly did not choose to use this, but it is extremely inconsistent and very hard to login with two factor. It hangs up a lot and is extremely slow when loading not sure if their server is still using dial up, but it sure seems like it.

They say it’s because of phishing

Texting capabilities down over a month now which is why we switched to cloud based phone!😫

No stars deserved

Horrible ai want to be support! No customer service or support. Issues never get resolved and they don’t seem to care that it affects our business and clients lives.
